Earth, Air, Water and Fire

These four paintings were part of an earth, air, water and fire theme. After researching these elements I wanted to present them in ways that demonstrated their impact on the world.

I chose to use a laser cutter to create a plastic stencil of the world map, then researched different painting methods used by a number of artists in order to create a style of my own to use in my final pieces. For two of them I used a sweeping technique with three different colours.

For another I used powdered paint by adding drops of water to create a spreading effect of colour. For the final piece I gained inspiration from line paintings and, using a variety of coloured acrylic paint and with cardboard, printed the lines of paint onto a black canvas. ​
